Onkyo Rides the Wireless Multiroom Speaker Wave

Onkyo is not one to miss out on audio trends. Any time that Dolby or DTS dreams up a new innovation — holographic, object-based, bone-induction surround, for example — you know that Onkyo will be the first to feature it in their AV receivers.

Given the company’s history of staying on top of the game, I wasn’t surprised to see a new wireless multiroom speaker in its CES booth. The NCP-302 uses the DTS Play-Fi platform to group multiple speakers for stereo and multiroom applications, and it also supports Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect, and Bluetooth. The decor-friendly speaker, which seems to take its design cues from Grundig, comes in black and white finishes and incorporates dual 3-inch woofers and a 1-inch tweeter.

Onkyo expects to ship the NCP-302 in March for around $300.
