NHK and BBC coomplish the first super-high-resolution broadcast from UK to Japan

Superhivision

1080p high-definition is nice. 4K (4096 x 2160) is even better, but only a few theaters have projectors that use that resolution yet. Super Hi-View is even better than that, with a resolution of 7680 x 4320, 4 times greater than 4K and 16 times greater than 1080p. For the first time on Wednesday, Super Hi-Vision video was transmitted from the UK to Japan.

The transmission was a test of the technology, using a special camera from NHK capable of capturing the high-resolution video to record a musical performance by The Charlatans. The video was transferred through a 24 Gb/sec Internet connection to Japan. Of course, only three cameras in the world can capture Super Hi-Vision video, and very few displays can come even close to showing a quarter of the detail in the video stream, but as a technology demonstration it was a success.
