New Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs Coming Soon

Sony today announced availability and pricing for four of its new 4K Ultra HD models.

The following models are available for pre-sale now and will be offered for sale in July at Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and other authorized dealers: 43-inch XBR-43X800D ($1,300), 49-inch XBR-49X800D ($1,500), 55-inch XBR-55X700D ($1,500), and 65-inch XBR-65X750D ($2,300).

XBR-X800D series models ship with high dynamic range (HDR) capability out of the box, while XBR-X750D and XBR-X700D series models will be upgradable to HDR compatibility via a firmware update later this year.

All models support Google’s Android TV operating system—which Sony said makes it easy to stream video, download entertainment, and use for gaming—and provide access to Google Play, Amazon Video, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, PBS, and Sony’s ULTRA streaming service. Additional apps include HBO Now, EPIX, Starz Play, iHeartRadio, Fusion, PlutoTV, and Vevo. With Google Cast, viewers can “cast” favorite entertainment apps such as HBO Go from Android and iOS devices or Mac/Windows/Chromebook computers to the TV.

Beyond streaming, the Android TV platform enables home automation control via the TV when integrated with Logitech’s Harmony Hub. More than 270,000 home entertainment products and smart home devices—such as lights, shades, and thermostats—can be controlled and automated at the push of a button on the TV’s remote, according to Sony.

The Android TV platform also supports voice search, which has been “enhanced to support natural language voice actions and longer, more complex sentences.”
