Toshiba new products - 1004 - toshibaLiterally adding a new twist to portable DVD players, the Toshiba SD-P2700 has a swiveling screen, so it can adjust to your position when you're in a cramped coach seat. The 9-inch diagonal, 1,024 x 600-pixel LCD will give the screens installed on airplanes a run for their money, and a second headphone jack lets you share the fun with a fellow passenger. When taking a break from watching flicks, you can listen to MP3 or WMA files on CD or flip through digital photos on MultiMediaCard or Secure Digital flash-memory cards. Just keep an eye on battery life - a full charging is said to last 3 1/2 hours. The progressive-scan output gives you the best possible video quality when the player is hooked up to a TV, but there are composite- and S-video outputs, too. A credit-card-size remote control is supplied. Price: $500. www.tacp.toshiba.com, 800-631-3811

Integra new products - 1004 - integraUntil the next format arrives, Integra's DPC-8.5 universal DVD changer will probably be the last player you'll need. Shuffling six discs, the carousel welcomes both DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD. The multichannel analog audio output includes bass management for both formats as well as an extra set of jacks for the back surround channels in a 6.1- or 7.1-channel speaker system. A separate stereo output delivers a two-channel "downmix" from DVD-A or SACD. For its component-video outputs, the changer sports both regular RCA jacks and BNC connectors (found mainly on professional video equipment and high-end gear). All outputs are simultaneously active. To ease its integration into custom setups, the changer is equipped with an RS-232 control port. Price: $700. www.integrahometheater.com, 800-225-1946

Jamo The 2F system from Jamo includes everything you need for a stylish, modern home theater - even a high-definition plasma TV. The 42-inch plasma has a resolution of 1,024 x 1,024 pixels and includes a Sigma graphics processor so you can upgrade the TV through an Ethernet port. DVI, VGA, and component-video inputs all accept high-def signals, and an off-air HDTV tuner is built in. Styled to match the TV, the A 3 speakers have 4-inch woofers (2-inchers on the center and surrounds) and 3/4-inch tweeters. The rectangular 100-watt subwoofer (lower right) is only 6 3/4 inches deep, but it's said to produce bass down to 40 Hz. Completing the package is the DVR 50 DVD player/receiver, which is rated to deliver 35 watts per channel. Price: $9,200. www.jamo.com, 847-465-0005 new products - 1004 - jamo
