The standalone deck can encode standard CD tracks (PCM) into MP3 format at 128 kilobits per second and burn them onto a CD-R or CD-RW. It can also record MP3 files in PCM format for playback on non-MP3 CD players and dub both audio and data CDs at 4x speed. Its USB port accepts MP3s from a Windows PC; software upgrades will allow it to interface with portable players.
