From the annals of You Can’t Make This Stuff Up comes Rinshu, a “therapeutic speaker” in the form of a miniature sail boat. The speaker is described as a “revolutionary sound system that uses curved wood amplification which transmits what are usually inaudible frequencies to the human body by utilizing extensive high-end sound production techniques, that studies have proven to have positive therapeutic benefits.”

The system includes an automatically updated online library featuring more than 170 songs and 15 hours of live music recorded in 24-bit 96 kHz “created and composed purely for peace and comfort.”

For your reading pleasure, we present the Rinshu press release in its entirety. In case you’re wondering, Rinshu sells for $3,750, which is not mentioned in the release.

Groundbreaking Therapeutic High-Definition Speaker to Debut at Newport Boat Show

Rinshu the Ultra High-Definition Sound System will be making its U.S. debut at the Newport Rhode Island International Boat Show September 17-20, 2015.

The Rinshu speaker is a revolutionary sound system that uses curved wood amplification which transmits what are usually inaudible frequencies to the human body by utilizing extensive high-end sound production techniques, that studies have proven to have positive therapeutic benefits. Hand-made by Japanese craftsmen, Rinshu is designed in the form of a sail boat to specifically create the unique sound that is transmitted to mimic acoustic wooden instruments creating a therapeutic music experience.

For ordinary speakers that are far away from the listener, the high frequency response is dramatically reduced. However, Rinshu effectively delivers high frequency sounds over a larger distance, even at low volumes. A fractal analysis of the brain has shown that Rinshu clearly transmits these high frequencies. When studying the frequency response when placed only 4 inches away, the speakers perform similarly at frequencies above 20KHz.

The system includes an automatically updated online sound library featuring more than 170 songs and 15 hours of live music recorded in 24-bit 96KHz created and composed purely for peace and comfort. The highly sophisticated system was created by founder Norihiko Hibino, a celebrated musician and sound designer, known for his works in the worldwide music and video game industries.

A graduate of Osaka University studying human science, and Berklee College of Music studying jazz composition, Hibino began exploring the therapeutic elements of music in 2008. His iOS app "Prescription for Sleep" released in 2010 has over 450,000 downloads and at one time was the most downloaded app on iTunes in Japan. Hibino states, “ Rinshu is not just a luxury item but can be used also for therapeutic purposes. Music therapy is interactive and is a powerful healing aid. We even have the ability to custom compose music to fit one's needs, requests and situations. Owning Rinshu is like having a music therapist with you at all times at the touch of a button.”

The Rinshu Sound System will be on display for three days and available for purchase and order at the 2015 Newport Rhode Island International Boat Show.

Hibino Sound Therapy Lab was formed in 2008 with the goal of providing whole therapeutic music experiences from creation to transmission by utilizing founder Norihiko Hibino's extensive high-end sound production expertise obtained through years of working in the worldwide music and video game industries.

Wow, that's absurd. The unproven claims, exorbitant pricing, ridiculous optics...unlike battery-powered cables, little metal dots, and other audio talismans. If you're going to start mocking hokum, you can find material readily available in your sister publications.

In fact, I bet Jason Victor Serinus already has one that he modified with Synergistic Research cables and power supply.
