LG Adds Two Models to Ultra HDTV Lineup

LG may not be at CEDIA proper, but they are definitely in Denver. The company held an off-site press event to debut a pair of new Ultra HDTVs. Its LA9650 Series arrives in 65- and 55-inch screen sizes, priced at $4,999 and $3,499 respectively. The addition of the pair brings LG’s total UHDTV count up to five, with the line still topped off by its 84-inch LM9600 ($18,000).

LA9650 Series sets feature an edge-lit backlight, a Tru-ULTRA HD Engine for HD upconversion, and H.265 decoding. LG’s Smart TV platform is onboard, of course, along with a Magic Remote and voice/gesture control.

The company also showed its new LAP340 Soundplate speaker ($400), an integrated audio solution that sits under the TV like a base. This slim system delivers 4.1-channel audio and includes dual built-in subwoofers. Price is TBD, but I heard the figure $400 tossed around at the event.
