Mitsubishi's Big Sound

Mitsubishi made a big splash at the CEA Line shows with LaserVue and conventional RPTVs (click here for more on those) as well as a new line of LCD TVs dubbed Unisen. All feature the Immersive Sound Technology soundbar that made its debut last year, though none use LED backlighting.

The 151 and 153 series provide 120Hz operation and will be available in 40-, 46-, and 52-inch sizes, while the Diamond 249 series sports pseudo-240Hz operation (120Hz with scanning backlight) and an Ethernet jack for "Internet readiness" in its 46- and 52-inch models, though no online content providers were announced. Also, none of the Unisen models offers LED backlighting—apparently, the company spent its advanced-illumination budget on LaserVue.

In the audio department, the Diamond series adds two additional, larger speakers to the soundbar and increases the internal amp power for improved sound. The demo I heard was certainly far better than normal TV sound, especially with the wireless Polk subwoofer that's part of a Mits promotion.
