Meet Octaloofah, World’s Weirdest Bluetooth Speaker

There may be a new reason to linger longer in the shower—at least that’s what Alex King, founder of the unique if not bizarre Octaloofah exfoliator/massager/shower speaker, hopes.

As he explains it, the concept is simple: Suction the Octaloofah to the shower wall, lean back, and listen to tunes as the ingenious device exfoliates and massages those hard to reach spots. The centrally located Bluetooth speaker and its waterproof controls is optional.

“I would constantly suffer from back acne after working out,” King explained. “That, coupled with the fact that I consistently had back pain by slouching at my desk all day gave me the idea to create what we have now.”

Octaloofah has raised $1,426 toward its goal of $25,000 since launching on Kickstarter in April. King is offering backers the opportunity to get one of the first Octaloofahs for a pledge of $25, a discounted rate that includes shipping. So far there are nine takers out of an allotment of 100.

If you’re intrigued by the idea and can’t wait to get your own Octaloofah, you’ll have to wait until November of 2017, which is when King expects to deliver—assuming he hits his funding goal.
