Mamma Mia! Oh My!

Now, I'm venturing out on a limb here, but I'm willing to bet Mamma Mia! isn't anywhere near the top of your "must buy" list of Blu-ray releases when it hits the streets December 16th. But, if we tell you about a neat new feature, it just might slip into your cart as you do last minute holiday shopping.

In addition to the usual list of features, Mamma Mia! will have a first. While details are sketchy, the Blu-ray will have a way for viewers to record a video commentary while watching the Blu-ray, then share it with friends. We have to assume this will work with a Web cam, perhaps through the flash drive input, or PS3's inputs. No word if it will play as a separate element or as a picture-in-picture. Imagine that — your very own Mystery Science Theater 3000 in your living room.

See what other features will be on the disc.

The 1080p video with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio will have BD-Live and U-Control features, and these:

  • U Control - Picture-in-Picture
  • U Control - Behind the Hits
  • Play with Sing-Along
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Outtakes
  • Deleted Musical Number: "The Name of the Game"
  • The Making of Mamma Mia!
  • Anatomy of a Musical Number: ''Lay All Your Love on Me''

The Blu-ray will retail for $39.98. Mamma mia, here I go again. My, my, how can I resist that! — Leslie Shapiro
