Linn Akurate Speaker System HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures: Linn Akurate Speaker System

Akurate 242 L/R Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Akurate 225 Center Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Akurate 212 Surround Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Akurate 242 L/R (purple trace), Akurate 221 subwoofer (blue trace), Akurate 225 center channel (green trace), and Akurate 212 surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The Akurate 242's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +0.80/–5.61 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 49 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 41 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.73 ohms at 8.8 kHz and a phase angle of –62.35 degrees at 64 Hz.

The Akurate 225's listening-window response measures +1.78/–5.51 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.43/–8.16 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 89 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 68 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.71 ohms at 8.6 kHz and a phase angle of –63.96 degrees at 64 Hz.

The Akurate 212's listening-window response measures +2.93/–4.59 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 85 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 70 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.72 ohms at 8.5 kHz and a phase angle of –53.86 degrees at 84 Hz.

The Akurate 221's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 29 Hz and the –6dB point is at 25 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 136 Hz with the low pass set to maximum.—MJP
