Lady GaGa launches her own line of headphones

Lady Gaga, Dr. Dre, Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine, and Monster Cable CEO Noel Lee held a joint press conference earlier today announcing the launch of Monster's new "Heartbeats by Lady Gaga" in-ear headphones.

Like Monster Cable's previous big-name headphones, "Beats by Dr. Dre," "Heartbeats by Lady Gaga" attempt to produce studio-quality sound, comparable to what Dre and Gaga hear when they produce their music. While Beats was developed with the work of both Dre and Monster Cable, Heartbeats is the company's first branded artistic line, with their physical appearance designed by Lady Gaga herself.

The headphones feature attractive triangles-within-a-bigger-triangle design on the earpiece, with flat "linguine" audio cables. The headphones are available in three different versions and three different colors. The basic Heartbeats headphones come in red, chrome, and black varieties, and will retail for $120 when they ship on October 18. The Heartbeats with Monster's ControlTalk cable for use with cell phones comes in black and will retail for $150 when they ship in late October. The "Heartbeats by Lady Gaga Haute Couture Ultra High Definition headphones", a high-end model that features ControlTalk and, according to Monster, better clarity, comes in metallic red. They will have a price tag of $180, and will ship in late fall.

Gaga explained her headphones and the triangular design as such: "In the deepest hour of the night, I confess to myself three things; I would die if I was forbidden to write, forbidden to love, or forbidden to fashion. Heartbeats embody the trinity of my human being, with one additional vow: that sound matters."

Gaga, Dre, Iovine, and Lee later walked into a bar, where the bartender asked, "What kind of joke is this?"
