HT Labs Measures: Klipsch Reference RB-75 Speaker System

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the RB-75 L/R (purple trace), RSW-15 subwoofer (blue trace), RC-7 center channel (green trace), and RS-7 surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a 1-meter distance with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The RB-75's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.16/–5.97 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 49 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 45 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.56 ohms at 200 Hz and a phase angle of –65.58 degrees at 93 Hz. Sensitivity averages 92.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

The RC-7's listening-window response measures +3.00/–2.00 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +3.88/–1.59 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 69 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 58 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.32 ohms at 174 Hz and a phase angle of –59.89 degrees at 106 Hz. Sensitivity averages 94 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

The RS-7's three-face averaged response measures +4.23/–2.38 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 77 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 64 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.84 ohms at 200 Hz and a phase angle of –63.28 degrees at 111 Hz. Sensitivity averages 92 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.

The RSW-15's close-miked response, normalized to the average level from 40 to 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 29 Hz and the –6dB point is at 23 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 101 Hz with the low-pass switch set to disable.—MJP
