Integra Customizing HD

Integra is taking its position as a custom installation specialist seriously. Their previous A/V receiver (DTR-5.8) was among the first to offer HDMI v1.3a, and now the new DTR-5.9 takes that to the next level.

The DTR-5.9 has four HDMI v1.3a inputs with 1080i upscaling from standard def. According to Integra, it has improved video scaling capabilities.

What else does the Integra DTR-5.9 have?

The DTR-5.9 uses Audyssey's Dynamic EQ technology which improves sonic performance at moderate listening levels. While most manufacturers brag about how loud their receivers play, Integra brags about how good their receiver sounds at typical listening levels. The DTR-5.9 also has the Audyssey 2EQ room correction and calibration system.

The DTR-5.9 is a 7.1 system with internal coding for DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Digital Plus lossless through the HDMI connections. Video upscaling to 1080i is handled by Faroudja DCDi Edge Technology.

Here's the nitty-gritty. The DTR-5.9 has 90 watts per channel into 8 ohms, or 110 watts into 6 ohms. Frequency response is listed as 5 Hz - 100kHz. It is Sirius Satellite Radio-ready with 40 presets for AM, FM, or Sirius.

Custom installers (and tech-savvy DIY'ers) will appreciate the bi-directional RS-232 and Ethernet ports, three 12-volt triggers, dual IR inputs, and three assignable IR code sets. Multisource and multizones including a powered stereo output shares the load between two rooms.

With a suggested retail price of $800, anyone would appreciate the plentiful features of the Integra DTR-5.9. -Leslie Shapiro
