For this Blu-ray release Disney has included each film on its own Blu-ray disc. Like their previous catalog Blu-ray releases, the restoration work here is magnificent. Fantasia looks like its been cleaned up significantly. There are no signs of blemishes in the print and color rendition is fabulous. Fantasia 2000 benefits from its more recent production with animation that is a tad sharper and a bit more refined. Both discs feature a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack and both sound incredible. Dynamic range is a tad lower with the older film but presence and atmosphere are still impeccable. The surround mix doesn’t sound exaggerated with a very natural surround presence. Disney once again does a superb job with their Blu-ray presentations of their classic catalog titles.

This release is a 4-disc set with both films getting separate DVD copies included in the package. Extras are similar on both releases and include behind the scenes features on the making of the films plus art galleries and interactive features. Fantasia 2000 also includes a feature commentary and an animated short film Destino.

Disney has done an outstanding job with the presentations for both of these classics. Fantasia has never looked better and the 7.1 discrete mixes do wonders for the musical journey. A must have for any Disney collection!!
