Heat Buster Junior

Flat-panel TVs and high-tech A/V gear may look cool, but in actual operation they're often physically far from it. Active Thermal Management has a way to keep displays and other heat-generating components (like amplifiers) mounted in tight spaces cool and comfortable. Reducing excess heat generated by these devices can often mean much longer lifespans and higher reliability.

Active Thermal Management's Cool-Stick/18 uses a strip of 8 fans to blow a stream of air through any confined area, including stacked and shelf-mounted components. The company says the Cool-Stick/18 is small enough in width (2.5 inches) and depth (5/8 inch) and length (18 inches) to fit in installations where other cooling devices can't. The unit is capable of moving 30 CFM in free air.

The Cool-Stick/18 is a half-length version of ATM's 36" long Cool-Stick (shown). The new model incorporates eight two-inch fans and a remote thermal switch that allows for completely automatic operation and is said to be very quiet. It's available now for $179.95 (SRP).
