Emotiva Announces Updates for XMC-1 Processor

Franklin,TN-based Emotiva Audio has announced an HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 upgrade for its flagship XMC-1 preamp/processor.

The upgrade will be offered at no cost to current XMC-1 owners or anyone who purchases the XMC-1 before the new HDMI board is available in August. For those who purchased the XMC-1 used or at a special discount, the upgrade will cost $299.

The new HDMI board, which will be included on all XMC-1 units shipped after the board is available, includes one HDMI 2.0 input and one HDMI 2.0 output, both with full HDCP 2.2 support.

The 7.2-channel processor netted Sound & Vision Top Pick status in 2015.

“Since the XMC-1 first hit the market, we’ve talked about how its modular design allows us to continually find ways to make it better through enhancements that tap into the best of current technologies and formats,” said Dan Laufman, president and founder of Emotiva. “True to our word, the HDMI/HDCP upgrade adds full HDMI 2.0 and HDCP functionality with little or no cost to our customers.”

The company is also planning a Dolby Atmos/DTS-X update in December.

I enjoy my xmc-1 over my marantz. I went from the av7702mkii back to xmc-1--loosing UHD and HDR and have found that the sound is superior and even the 1080p provided was a cleaner pic over attempting to stream 4k. Very happy.

XMC-1 sets new standards for other to follow. It's amazing how well it sounds for its price. I ran Dirac Live Full with UMIK-1 90 degree cal file loaded, and it sounded phenomenal.A great product with great support; everyone else should learn from Emotiva.
