Imagine The Sopranos relocated to an Irish neighborhood in Rhode Island, with a healthy dose of local politics thrown in for good measure. After a tentative start, Brotherhood turns into a well-acted, engaging drama, with enough sex and violence to remind you it's not network TV. The picture on this three-disc set has an appropriately gritty, grainy look, but this also results in a lack of detail. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix keeps mainly to the front of the soundstage, with the surround channels used only very occasionally. Slim extras consist of a single commentary from series creator Blake Masters and writer Henry Bromell.
