may have been dragged down by superficial similarities to the classic Lonesome Dove
, but it uses outrageously good performances and a unique story to carve its own spot in the pantheon of great Westerns. And the small screen doesn't stop director Walter Hill (The Warriors
, The Long Riders

Sound is equally strong and atmospheric, engulfing you in the natural surroundings of the trail. Sadly, a 23-minute, standard-issue featurette is the only extra in this two-disc set. [NR] English, Dolby Digital 5.1; letterboxed (1.78:1) and anamorphic widescreen; two single-layer discs.
