Do I Look Thin?

LG's new LED LCD TVs are now ultra slim, including one model that is an incredible 6.9mm thin. The Infinia range includes full LED backlighting technology (Full LED Slim, in LG's phrase, but a bit thicker than that 6.9mm set). Some LG sets will now offer 480Hz operation thanks to a newly developed ASIC. The company also plans on marketing a 15" OLED display.

LG's new sets, include not only LED LCDs but conventional LCDs with CCFL (fluorescent) backlighting and plasmas as well (the latter said to provide greatly improved black levels—LED'S name for its black level technology is Mega Contrast). Most of the new LG HDTVs are also wireless-ready; a optional wireless dongle will provide full wireless capability through a home network. This feature will also offer communication through SKYPE (audio and video).

LG did mention that they will offer 3D in some of their new products, but did not go into detail. I'll be investigating this later, on the show floor. A 3D Blu-ray player was announced, but the only information on it was "later this year." Other new LG Blu-ray players will be also equipped with 250GB hard drives, usable for a variety of purposes, including archiving your CD collection.

Finally, and perhaps most excitingly, LG also announced new projectors, including one that will be 3D-capable. More on this when I have the chance to get more details at the LG booth tomorrow.
