Bang & Olufsen
For a widescreen plasma display, B&O's BeoVision 5 might at first appear to be strangely shaped. Upon closer inspection, though, you'll see that its beautifully finished aluminum frame incorporates a 42-inch-wide, 16:9 plasma screen and a pair of magnetically shielded, front-firing speakers mounted below the screen. The BeoVision 5 measures 42 inches wide, 45.25 tall, and 6.75 deep, and it arrives with a stand, as well as a wall-mounting bracket. With a retail price of $19,500, the BeoVision 5 might not qualify as a budget plasma; however, its unique industrial design and your choice of a silver, red, black, blue, or green brushed-aluminum frame are sure to appeal to the décor-conscious theaterphile.

ATC
Designed for high-performance home installations, ATC introduces their Passive Collection of speakers. The series consists of two center-channel models, two powered subs, and three studio control monitors: the SCM7, the SCM12, and the SCM35, shown here. As their name suggests, the speakers in Passive Collection require external amplification. The SCM35 is a three-way loudspeaker, and ATC recommends that you use it with a 50- to 300-watt-per-channel amp. The SCM35's soft-dome neodymium tweeter is said to provide response beyond 20 kilohertz, while a 3-inch transducer handles the midrange, and an 8-inch bass driver takes care of the low frequencies. This lovely speaker measures 34.5 inches tall, 9 wide, and 11.8 deep, is available in cherry veneer or piano black, and sells for $4,000 per pair.
