TCL Announces Plans to Sell 50-Inch Ultra HD LCD TV for $999
The company also unveiled the flagship 5510 LED HDTV series, which will launch in August with 40-, 46-, and 55-inch models priced at $399, $499, and $799, respectively.
All four LCD models have edge-lit LED backlighting, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) compatibility for displaying content from a smartphone while simultaneously charging the device.
Highlights of the Ultra HD model include 4K upscaling, four HDMI inputs, and SRS TruSurround HD audio processing. The 40- and 46-inch 1080p models in the 5510 Series have three HDMI inputs, while the 55-inch model ups the count to four. The 55-inch model is said to exceed Energy Star 6.0 guidelines and offers Dolby Digital Plus audio processing as well as built-in Wi-Fi with Netflix, YouTube, and Yahoo apps. All models are covered by a two-year limited warranty and finished in gunmetal gray.
A recent DisplaySearch report ranked TCL third behind Samsung and LG in terms of total worldwide TV shipments.
