The audio world has recently faced a dichotomy that seems to force listeners to choose between wireless convenience or good sound quality. Thankfully, German manufacturer Raumfeld has produced a line of speakers and receivers that blend Hi-Res Audio with wireless ease.

I like to sweat. Sweating is good. I like to listen to music. Most earbuds are destroyed by sweat, or else if they are sweatproof, they sound bad. Sennheiser has overcome that conundrum and sold some excellent sports earbuds in the past, but they have doubled-down on the product category with their new Sport Series comprising four new models, all aimed at our inner athlete clamoring to get stronger, fitter and faster.

If you’ve gone through the trouble of creating a kick-ass boombox, why scrap it and start from scratch every time you want to create a new or different style or look? The FUGOO Bluetooth speaker core comes with three different “sleeves” that all share a ton of great features and all sound good, but they have very different applications.

There is no shortage of all-weather Bluetooth speakers but the Boomjacket takes longevity to a new level with 40 hours of playback time on a single charge. (Moreover, Altec Lansing claims that you don't have to lower the volume to achieve that.) The Boomjacket is the sequel to the Life Jacket; like its predecessor, the Boomjacket features rain/dirt/shock-proof construction; in addition to its improved playing time, it has improved sound quality and more mounting capabilities.

Panasonic has partnered with Mozilla to create a new smart TV experience that is powered by Firefox. The underlying operating system of these “Life + Screen” TVs is no longer proprietary to Panasonic and will interact with any brand smartphone, tablet, or computer that is on the same WiFi network.

While it was at the LG press conference that Netflix announced its Netflix Recommended TV program, it was Hisense who made a point of letting booth visitors know that their TV made the list. This is a little misleading. Netflix stated that Roku TVs are expected to make the list but didn’t specifically name Hisense who makes a Roku TV. Sony, LG, Sharp, and VIZIO are some of the manufacturers whose names are expected to be the first to receive a Netflix Recommended TV logo.

Later this year you may truly be able to say goodbye to your cable company including dropping broadband cable. A new technology will make it possible for telephone companies to boost their speeds to over a Gbps (gigabit per second)

One of the best demos I took in at CES was provided by French tech company Giroptic, a participant in the cutting-edge Tech West expo at the Sands. Part of it had to do with the quality of the seamless 360-degree HD video captured by the company’s Go Pro-style compact camera. But a bigger part had to do with the fact that the footage was being displayed on the Oculus Rift—my first experience with that storied, soon-to-come VR headset.

Wi-Fi dead spots can be a problem, especially if you have a sizeable home. To get wireless Internet connectivity to a bedroom at the opposite end from where your Wi-Fi router is set up very well might require a range extender—Linksys’ N600 PRO, for instance.

Most of the current DIY smart home automation systems suffer from multiple drawbacks, many of which become apparent during the setup of the smart home hub and identifying the smart devices in the system. When it comes to market, OOMI’s Cube is designed to change all that.

The OOMI Cube is the heart of the...

Stumbling through the Sands Expo, I came across one of those seemingly insignificant products that turn out to be an elegant and simple solution to a never-ending problem. In this case, I found the NEET booth and its assortment of Cable Keepers. Something the company calls the “World's Simplest Cable Management Solution”.

Using one of NEET’s Cable Keepers is like having...
